From 8 August 2023 – Help the Credit Suisse lawyers with their arithmetic.

Good afernoon dear friends and Supporters,

Help the Credit Suisse lawyers – they have huge problems with arithmetic, seriously.

An interesting email we have received from the lawyers of Credit Suisse – Bill of Cost.

While technically it is possible but the normal conduct it to wait for the final resolution of the case.

The lawyers of Credit Suisse for some reason pulled in a team of the whole five lawyers, and no one of them had a question of why to file a Bill of cost when the Application for leave to Appeal or reopen judge’s decision for lack of reasoning is pending before the court and will be heard on 6 September 2023 in the Supreme Court Of The Bahamas before Hon. Madam Justice Deborah E. Fraser.

Another element of this Bill of Cost is amount ($342,402.63), I do understand that lawyers are not engineers and do not expect same precision from them, but an error of 285 times more compared the maximum amount allowed by the New Rules of the Supreme Court ($1,286,91 ) is “a bit” excessive.

Considering that of five lawyers, four were called by the Bahamian Judicial Education Institute (BJEI) to participate in the preparation of the New Procedure Rules of the Supreme Court f the Bahamas, we see it as an assault to the respect to the Judiciary and filed a Report of Misconduct to the Judicial and Legal Service Commission.

But our unstoppable learned “friends” did not pause. They applied to the Listing Office of the Supreme Court for a date for the hearing of the taxation. We will update you on all, and please wish us good luck for tomorrow’s hearing.

Thank you as always for reading this article, for sharing it and for signing our petition,

With blessings,

Irina
