I cannot believe that our dear Senator Rodney Moncur has passed. He was a hero—fearless, the only man in power in The Bahamas who openly stood up for our case, as he did on so many other occasions. He always chose truth, justice, anti-corruption, and stood against financial slavery. He was the founder and leader of the Freedom March…

They burned his house. They bombed his car. Yet he never stopped.

This is so sad… so sad. He was only 68. When UBS’s attorneys sent a threatening letter to the TV stations where he worked—and from where he defended us—he called us and frankly said that he was an old and poor man, his wife was sick, and he could not afford to lose his job. Yet, he was still driving a cab to make ends meet…

We will hold dear our memories—meetings at the ‘restaurant,’ as he called our McDonald’s spot; walking in Junkanoo with his group for Justice; his fearless attendance at our Court of Appeal sessions, reporting on our hearings and developments in our 10-year long fight for Justice… smiles and phone calls. Sad… so sad.

A painful and premature loss. Please, pray for his beautiful soul. Pray for his wife and all his relatives—may they find comfort.
