Dear Friends and Supporters,

I hope you are all well, and please forgive my long silence.

Today, I want to share heartbreaking news—our dear friend, Larry Meredith, passed away this weekend after a long and extraordinary battle with cancer.

After we met Mr. Meredith—Larry—his presence in our lives was as remarkable as was with so many others. He was a former pilot, a horse rider, and a man whose smile embodied all the goodness we cherish from our memories and the books that shaped us. He was the American hero, straight out of Jack London and Ernest Hemingway’s pages, their spirit reincarnated—full of fire, warmth, and an unyielding sense of justice, a firm sense of right and wrong.

Larry was a man who could have been an exceptional CEO, leading many businesses and people with great vision and skill. Yet, despite his success, he remained humble—capable of fixing anything with his hands. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke, it was always with purpose, wisdom,and a sense of humor that brought lightness to the room.

When Larry learned about our story, he was already battling stage four bone cancer. But that didn’t stop him. He came to the Court of Appeal, standing by our side with unwavering strength and heroically supporting our case for six long hours.

His wife, Mrs. Yvette McCartney-Meredith, an exceptional attorney— one of the best senior lawyers in the Bahamas—shares his honesty, integrity, and thirst for justice. She represented us through all those hours, with endless preparation, even on weekends, all in spite of our inability to pay her. She moved forward pro bono, from the heart–or should I say–from their hearts, since Larry was always a firm and fearless supporter. He deeply believed that even the smallest act of goodness makes the world a better place—and he lived by that, doing good wherever he had the chance.

Larry’s fight for life was nothing short of extraordinary. His love and sacrifice for his family knew no bounds. He leaves behind five children, two of them little girls who adored their daddy. The love story he shared with his wife is one that deserves to be told—it could one day be the script for a movie, a testament to devotion and courage.

We all know Larry is now in paradise, in a place of light and peace among good souls. May he rest in peace. May his legacy and the love he left behind help his family—and all of us, his friends—find the strength to cope with his loss.
